The latest generation of Comp-tac holster designs incorporates numerous modifications and construction techniques to make them more comfortable, more secure and more affordable.

Construction Features

No Metal - The tension adjustment screws are the only metal parts on any of our holsters. What this means to you is that there is never anything inside the holster itself that can possibly come in contact with the finish of your pistol other than smooth kydex. Some of our models utilize a belt clip or J-hook that is attached to the body of the holster instead of being part of same kydex sheet. In these cases, the parts are actually welded together. No screws or rivets are used at all in the contact surfaces of the holster. The welds are as strong as the material itself and we've had great success with this construction method. [Thanks, Dan.]

Sweat Shields - All of our IWB holsters feature sweat shields to make them more comfortable for you and keep perspiration off the gun.

Attention to Detail

We've upgraded all of our molds to provide products with better fit and finish and more refined contour. Your handgun will snap into place with more positive tactile feedback and contours are designed to keep positive pressure on the handgun to hold it more securely.

A word about gun finishes: All holsters will cause wear on the finish of your gun - That's just a fact of life. We have learned that abrasive particles and dust are less likely to cling to the kydex material than a leather holster and kydex is more easily cleaned. Still, anything that rubs against your gun will wear on the finish. Like anything else you carry every day, your gun is going to pick up blemishes and scratches. Personally, the few "jewelry guns" I own seldom leave the safe. The fact that it picks up a certain "patina" over the years only means it's being used as it was meant to be.

Tension Adjustments

Every tension adjustment screw on Comp-tac products is treated with re-settable loctite during the assembly process to keep the fasteners set where you want them. The T-nuts are welded into place to preclude slipping during the adjustment process. We use hex screws to adjust the tension and a hex wrench is included with every order.

Choice of Material

Let's face it... Carrying a handgun can be a real pain. We've tried to minimize the bulk and size of our gear to provide as comfortable a solution as possible, especially on our IWB products. Whereas the standard thickness of our kydex material is .125", all our IWB holsters are made from .090" sheets. The thinner material adds practically nothing to the bulk of the handgun while still providing all the stability you could ever need.
