Why is a belt contour important?

Tuesday, November 29, 2016

Learn why a contoured belt helps the fit, feel and function of your gun belt.

Kydex Reinforced Contour BeltThinking of getting a new gun belt? Not sure what features to look for? When making your decision, one design feature you should always look for is a contour.

What is a contour?
A belt with a contour is cut with a curve to the leather. When looking at the belt laid out flat you will be able to see the ends curve upward. This upward curve will mean that the bottom edge will have a longer distance creating a wider diameter on the bottom verses the top.

Why is a contour important?
Humans do not have a single size when moving up and down our body. Our measurements change, especially around the waist. Some individuals have more curves than others but all people have a curve where their hips meet the stomach cavity. A contoured belt helps to sit against these curves to fit the human body more comfortably. Have you ever worn a belt and had it develop a wrinkle in the back? This is because the bottom of the belt is stretching to be wider, while the top of the belt is slack.

Will I notice a difference in fit?
Yes, many customers comment that they don’t develop stress points along their hip bones in the front or get pinched along the sides or back. The belt will also last longer because it won’t develop that “wrinkle” that can cause stress and damage to the leather.

Check out the Comp-Tac Kydex Reinforced Contour Belt today and see why the contour makes this the most comfortable gun belt you have ever worn.
